Al's Tire Mart has been in business and serving the Effingham County area since 1952. Albert Knabe started Al's Tire Mart with family in mind, and today we continue to carry on that tradition with Al's sons Tom Knabe, Mark Knabe, and Mike Knabe now leading the way. We have continued to progress from being a tire dealer and installer to now having departments for vehicle repair with two contact vehicles that can come to you, the largest auto electronics showroom for 70 miles, a state of the art home electronics room, as well as being an authorized Verizon retailer with two locations.

Al's Tire Mart originally started in the building that is behind our current building on Jefferson Ave. We continued to be a growing business in a growing community, so we moved to our current location in 1982. With all of our extra space, we decided to add to our store. We started expanding with car audio installations and custom stereo systems. A few years followed and it was time for us to expand again, this time we decided to move into the mobile phone business. We started by selling and installing phones for vehicles. When Ameritech was purchased by Verizon Wireless, we became an authorized retailer for their cellular phones. In 2001 we decided it was time for yet another expansion of the business. So, we opened a state of the art home theater department with a built in theatre with a 120” screen and multiple speakers to choose from. We also added six more service bays to our vehicle maintenance division and added a showroom for our Verizon cell phones due to growing demands. We now are one of the areas few professional installers for home theater systems, as well as being the area’s best seller of Verizon cell phones. We are always striving to be the best at everything we do, and are continuously trying to find ways to fulfill the needs of our customers. That’s what makes us a successful business today.
